You got that right. I only wish we had areas like that to ride.

RE: Correcting for rear end sag

Not always. I'm within my specs but have about 2" of sag without the bags. Again, not only does it keep the truck level it improves the ride quality loaded or dry.

RE: Ford could face suit over troublesome truck engine

FYI, I believe the Eddie Bauer trim is only available on the Expedition. Harley Davidson on the pickups.

RE: Opinions on battery monitor

Please let me know of your thoughts when you get it installed. That's the same reseller I'm looking at but again, we Canadians are being stung with heavy shipping and duty.

RE: Ford could face suit over troublesome truck engine

you got very lucky...
by the way i owned one..
I think the best part is people bad mouthung something they did not own. I persoanally owned two 6.0 litres and had 220,000 trouble free miles between them. Now I have one of those F150'spulling my fifthwheel that people ( who don't own one)say it can't.
JUST DON'T BELIEVE EVERYBODY ON HERE.
I will second that. Maybe it was just my bad luck but I ended up with a dud. Sure there are those who had and still have good luck with them but you can't deny the overwhelming number of people who had issues with them.

RE: Correcting for rear end sag

Larger bars might be the quickest answer. After trying that avenue, and you still have an issue, I can't say enough good things about airbags. The quality of the ride will increase dramatically as well, even when unloaded and the air pressure knocked down.
Let me know if you want more info on them.

RE: Opinions on battery monitor

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but the cheapest I can find the Link 10 is $200.00. The LinkPro can be had for $230.00.
I've looked at the TriMetric, and I know at the end of the day it's function that really matters, but I can't get over the lack of aesthetics. It will be mounted at the main panel, right beside the door, visible from anywhere in the trailer.
Think I'll go with the LinkPro. Not sure I'd ever use it but one of the interesting features is the auto-generator output. From what I make of it, it will start the generator when the batteries drop to a certain level.

RE: Inverter

Let me guess, you're plugging the inverter into the provided cigarette lighter outlet right? That's the problem. The wiring used on that outlet is tiny. I went through the exact same issue. If you flip through the inverter manual it will tell you that any draw larger then 100w, the inverter must be attached directly to the battery.
Best option, tie the inverter directly to and as close to the battery as possible.

Opinions on battery monitor

Hey guys,
I'm looking at a battery monitor. The two that have made the short list are the Link 10 and the newer LinkPro. Anyone with experience? Any big differences between the two other then the digital readout?

RE: Raptor 3612 Batteries Draining and Norcold Won't Stay Cold

I'm in the same boat and finally did a few tests. With nothing on except the fridge, there is still a constant draw from the propane detector and one of the 2 co2 detectors (one is wired, the other is a battery backup). The measured load of these 3 items is 1.5amps. Thats 36amps over a 24 hour period. Over your 4 days thats 144amps. I'm not sure what you have for batteries but that alone will bring my 2 6v's below the suggested 50% mark.
Bottom line is you either need more battery or an effective way of charging them daily.

Xantrex truecharge behaviour

Hey guys,
I'm working on an electrical issue that may result in the purchase of a truecharge 40. I have a couple questions about it's operation though.
Is it designed to stay on continuously much like the charger in a converter or should a person install a switch and turn it on only when a charge is required?
Is it intelligent enough to detect the SOC and alter output as required or does it force full output (40amps) regardless of state until 85% capacity is reached?
I notice it has a setting that will constantly supply 13.6v for use when a battery is not connected. I am assuming that it will not intelligently convert without manually flipping the switch though so the ac/dc portion of my existing setup will have to remain?
Input appreciated!

RE: Suggestions regarding charge times

So, the batteries have been sitting on the bench in the garage for a week. I took a reading last night at they're stable at 12.5v. I'm really confused now. They're darn near topped up. This would lead me to believe that the converter is working properly.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a how to on troubleshooting a converter? I'm more then baffled on what voltage reading should be shown at the terminals throughout the charge cycle. My understanding is that the voltage will start at 13.2 and a high amperage if required. As the voltage increases the amperage tappers off until the voltage reaches 14.4 when it slowly decrease until it reaches and holds 13.6. If that is correct how in the world can I measure 12.5 at the batteries with the converter on then a week later measure 12.5 after the batteries have been sitting on a bench with nothing attached?

RE: Patio

Wanted to revive this thread to get an update from those who have installed the cables. Have you noticed any issues, i.e. twisting of the door, pulling of the bolts through the mounting holes?
Thinking of going this route. Just don't want to cause long term damage.

RE: Suggestions regarding charge times

I appreciate the advice here guys. Great explanation of the converter's operation. One thing confusing me a little is your statement about normal mode. You say that in normal (13.6) mode the batteries should read around 13.3. After the 4 hour charge they were reading 13.4.
I have had heard something about too large a converter for a smaller bank but your explanation has finally let me wrap my head around it. One option I have entertained is upping the number of batteries.
Step one is checking the health of the batteries. I'll do that when I get back tomorrow. Please stay tuned, can really use your help here!

RE: Suggestions regarding charge times

It's the 75 amp model converter. The voltage reading of 12.5 was with the generator/converter on.
I'm over my head when it comes to testing the converter. Hypothetical questions. Could damaged batteries cause these readings?

RE: Suggestions regarding charge times

I have seen that article before and believe me, it's in the back of my mind. One option is to replace it.
The voltage was at 12.1 when the generator was started. The 6v are new this year, replacing 2 12v that the dealer let drain and sit in sub zero for a few months. I don't recall having these issues last year but I'll admit that I never really monitored them either.
Golden, any suggestions on where to look for a panel? I'm not looking for the best of the best. I'm trying to keep my resolution as cheap as possible.
